Happy International Women’s Day! Today, we celebrate how amazing it is to be a woman, reflecting on our strength and willpower. This is the perfect day to show female solidarity and unite for causes we believe in. Our thoughts go to so many women, who struggle with self-esteem and self-image, as we have all, in some way or another, struggled with our confidence, related to either body image, career goals, etc. So, we decided to bring you a confidence-building treat, this Women’s Day! We mixed quotes by 5 super fierce ladies with 5 trendy looks, pressed blend and came up with the ultimate girl power boost. There’s nothing like your 5-a-day to help you feel good in your skin!

Job Interview

“Whatever you do, be different – that was the advice my mother gave me, and I can’t think of better advice for an entrepreneur. If you’re different, you will stand out.” (Anita Roddick)

First impressions are key when it comes to job interviews. Your employer just needs a few seconds to judge, whether you’ll be a good fit for them. Since confidence is essential to making a good first impression, you want to make sure you stand tall and proud. How you dress for your job interview will be determined by the kind of company and job you are applying to. For a luxury sales job, you will probably want to dress more formally than a creative position in a design company. That being said, for any job interview, you should always dress smart. This will show your employer that you take care of yourself, feel comfortable with your own image, and more importantly, that you put in the extra effort to fight for the position. For example, try pairing a floral print midi skirt with a monochrome cami and a chic leather jacket or tweed blazer. Don’t forget to accessorise! Elevate your look with an elegant pair of courts and a matching handbag.

Society Dinner

“Women are the real architects of society.” (Harriet Beecher Stowe)

Whether you’re attending a charity event or gala dinner, you will want to put your best foot forward. For a more formal and elegant look, why not wear a chic pair of trousers with a silk cami and blazer? Black and white is the colour match-made-in-heaven for any soiree! Add an extra touch of glam with a pair of open-toe heeled sandals and a large jewelled clutch bag. For a more feminine look, don’t neglect the classic LBD or a brighter dress (spring is just around the corner, after all)!

Date Night

“I always wanted to be a femme fatale. Even when I was a young girl, I never really wanted to be a girl. I wanted to be a woman.” (Diane von Furstenberg)

Whether you’re seeing someone for the first time or keeping the flame alive with your spouse, you will want to look sexy for your upcoming date night. Before you can find ‘The One’, you first need to find your sole mate! A sexy, feminine look starts with a pair of shoes. For the perfect date night outfit, opt for a pair of dark, floral-printed double d’Orsay courts and a mini dress, in a matching colour.

Don’t forget your jewellery! A bit of bling can go a long way in catching that special someone’s eye.

“I love to see a young girl go out and grab the world by the lapels. Life’s a bitch. You’ve got to go out and kick ass.” (Maya Angelou)

We all see our self-esteem take a plunge when we’re travelling. You’ve packed a suitcase full of cute outfits for your destination; however, when it comes to the actual journey, you can’t be bothered to dress up. Who cares – you’re going to look like a mess anyway, right? Wrong! There’s no reason to feel uncomfortable in your skin just because you have a long journey ahead of you. Leave the oversized jumper, old leggings and roughened up trainers behind. You don’t have to sacrifice style for comfort. Instead of leggings, opt for a chic, comfy pair of joggers or jeggings with a loose-fitted top. Quick tip: If you’re flying, you’re going to want to pack an extra jacket to help fight the air conditioning! Although you may want to already try out your new pairs of courts, we don’t recommend wearing heels when travelling. Hopping through the airport and then complaining about sore feet is no confidence boost! Instead, wear a nice pair of ballet flats or trendy trainers, such as our Daynes.

Lunch with the Girls

“If you only obey the rules, you miss all the fun” (Katharine Hepburn)

Just because you’re having lunch with your best girlfriends, doesn’t mean you have to throw on the first thing in your wardrobe. Studies suggest that many women suffer from low self-esteem, due to the fact that they continuously compare themselves to their friends. One way of fighting this is by realising that everyone is unique and has their own flaws. Your friends may have reached some milestones you haven’t yet; but, at the same time, you may have also achieved life goals they haven’t. It works both ways. Dressing up when you meet your friends can also help fight this. If you feel stylish, then your confidence level will increase. Why not try this season’s boho chic trend for your next get-together? Fringed open-toe heeled sandals, such as our Eletta, and a fringe faux suede jacket, paired with skinny jeans and a floppy hat makes for the perfect confidence-boosting look!

Enjoy your day, girls! You deserve it!
