Who, What, Wear: All About The Cross Body Bag By JustFab

Cross Body Bag

It’s no secret that autumn is all about the most low-maintenance bag in our accessories arsenal: the cross body. It’s hands-free, works with every kind of outfit and is the epitome of cool style. The best part? It’s the most practical piece in the game. We chatted with Annie Chao, JustFab’s bag buyer, and Tiffany Blake, our talented bag designer – both from our headquarters in Los Angeles – to get the scoop on why this is the bag to know now.

Why is a cross body the bag of the moment?
Annie: It’s been said that the cross body is the new clutch. Effortless and hands-free, cross body bags are practical for everyday. I’m loving them for autumn because they’re super easy to carry when you’re wearing multiple layers.

Where would you rock a cross body?
Annie: Anywhere and everywhere, but I especially love one for a girls night out!

What inspired this season’s designs?
Tiffany: Whenever I’m designing, I pull inspiration from past and present designer collections, bloggers and trends – all while making sure every design fits our girls’ needs.

Tell us a little about your design process.
Tiffany: I begin by thinking about the overall mood for the season. From there, I choose a colour palette that will complement both our clothing and footwear collection (so our girl can mix and match anything from the JF collection!) After I research the silhouettes and details I feel will work best, I sketch handbag styles, choose materials, pick hardware and make sure the dimensions are just right.

Can you tell us about some of the fabrics and hardware that work the best when it comes to a cross body?
Tiffany: The cross body bag is a super versatile style, which allows me to have fun with all types of materials and hardware. Some take on an artisan feel, thanks to faux suede and braiding, while others are fabricated in a polished saffiano with bold lock hardware accents.

Can you tell us a little about the value of a cross body?
Annie: A cross body is a 2-in-1 bag. It can be worn like a clutch or held like a satchel. I love wearing one over the shoulder or across the body for more security.

What inspired this season’s collection?
Annie: Our designers wanted to create pieces that were functional and practical for on-the-go days in the city. Glam accents and preppy details keep this season’s collection on-trend, while non-traditional hardware accents take things up a notch.

What do you think about our brand-new cross body bags? Are you loving them as much as we are?
