Preparing for a festival is almost as exciting as actually going to one. It’s a ritual we all enjoy, demanding a good deal of organisation, involving the choice of the festival (or festivals, if you’re going all out), your outfit (the first priority), the friends you’re going to bring along, your festival survival kit and so on.

Let’s go back to our #1 priority: festival fashion. Knowing what to bring to a festival is just as important as knowing who will be playing. If your style is more boho chic, then your closest ally is a pair of flats. The rainy British weather (as it seems to be so far) calls for a good pair of Wellies, but don’t let that discourage you from packing a couple of pairs of summer sandals to top off your looks in style and comfort.

Get inspired by our top 5 types of festival girls and their looks. Where do you fit?

Kate – The Boho Chick

What you like: Relaxing afternoons in the park with your friends, cocktails and folk music.

Your must-have: Maxi dresses.

Style Tip: Your go-to is a strapless maxi dress and flat sandals. Accessorise your outfit with beaded necklaces, decorated with peace symbols, and trendy hair wreaths in pastel colours.

Our Festival Pick For You: Barclaycard British Summer Time, Hyde Park, London on 2, 8 and 9 July.

Look fierce in the Cold Shoulder Maxi in coral, the Daniela wedges and the Hugh saddle bag in cognac.

Irene – The Indie Chick

What you like: You are a free spirit and enjoy some me-time. Reading, painting, listening to Indie music as well as other culture-related activities are all part of your daily routine.

Your must-have: Gladiator sandals.

Style Tips: You wouldn’t dream of going to a festival without your gladiators. You have at least 15 different pairs, which you love because they’re super comfortable. Try pairing them with practical accessories, like a saddle bag, and a Bardot dress.

Our Festival Pick For You: Reading and Leeds Festivals, 26-28  August.

What you like: You make your own trends, showing them off on your Instagram account when the time is right.

Your must-have: Culottes.

Style Tips: You love to mix and match current trends, and according to you, the more prints and the less basic, the better! This season, culottes will be at the front of your wardrobe, and you can pair with off-the-shoulder tops, beaded flat sandals and clutch bags in summery colours.

Our Festival Pick For You: Wireless Festival, Finsbury Park, London on 8-11 July.

What you like: Vintage clothes are your weakness. You love to wear something that lets you travel through the past.

Your must-have: Bomber jackets.

Style Tips: You’re the queen of contrast, prizing a potpourri of prints, undergarments and unisex accessories, such as trainers – your greatest weakness – and faux leather backpacks.

Our Festival Pick For You: Lovebox, Victoria Park, East London on 15-16 July.

Match the Alma trainers with a plain white t-shirt, the Bomber Jacket and the Chambray Belted Skirt.

What you like: You love to be surrounded by friends, going to the cinema, visiting museums and other fun activities.

Your must-have: The classic tote bag.

Style Tips: Your look is classic and casual at the same time. A stain of lipstick, pearl earrings, courts and a midi dress make your everyday outfit. For a festival, why not pair your favourite skirt or a pair of skinny jeans with trendy cowboy boots?

Our Festival Pick For You: V Festival, Chelmsford on 20-21 August.
