Fashion Week is the IT-event for every IT-girl! Answering to the call, we sent our bloggers Rosie (@rosiefortescue) and Sylvia (@sylviasparkles) to the front row to spot all the must-have trends for autumn/winter 2016, and do a snapshat and Instagram takeover. What a show!
Below are 5 trends spotted by Sylvia:
Time to Shine: It’s time to bring a little sparkle back to your daytime wardrobe. Metallic embellishments and sequins are no longer just for the evening. British fashion duo Justin Thornton and Thea Bregazzi’s brand, Preen, for example, presented a collection, which was dazzling in sequins. Even the models wore sparkly eye make-up! On that note, silver was also at the forefront of the show, replacing previously adored rose gold.
Style Tip: There’s nothing like jewellery to add a bit of bling to your look! Just remember to keep things cool and elegant – pairing sequins with flashy accessories may be a little too much.
Dark Colours: Being the AW collection, you wouldn’t expect anything less than dark colours. Yet, while the looks were quite grungy and dark, they were beautifully feminine. Think Edwardian-inspired styles, with floor-length hems and luxurious fabrics.
Lace: One of the key trends to highlight is lace. Many of the dresses presented featured lace patchwork, hems and high collars. Mulberry, for instance, brought us a high-necked, black cocktail dress that was both bold and elegant. We cannot wait to try on these new dresses!
Pink is IN: Aside from black, pink was a dominant colour on the runway last week. One of our favourites was the girly pink wool coat from Roksanda. Preen also seduced with sugar-pink cashmere. Adding to the sweetness of the colour, florals (surprisingly, for the autumn/winter collection) were also a big favourite of the runway. When it comes to the grey of the colder months, we couldn’t ask for anything better than a splash of colour and florals to bring us back closer to spring!
Oversized Coats: The bigger, the better, this autumn/winter! The classic winter coat has become majorly supersized. For example, Alexander McQueen models strutted down the runway wearing enormous quilt-inspired coats. While this may seem a tad dramatic, just think how warm and cosy you’ll feel come the colder months!
Style Tip: Oversized coats go great with a nice pair of jeans. Take a look through our denim collection to find the perfect fit for you!
Overall, London Fashion Week AW 2016 was glamorous, chic and feminine, and your wardrobe will be too. We can’t wait to help you rock the trends above!
